Strong Style's Pablo Castro Captures
IBJJF No-Gi World Championship

(11/10/09 - Long Beach, CA) - The NAAFS would like to congratulate Pablo A. Castro III, Esq. for his outstanding performance at the IBJJF's World Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championships this past weekend in Long Beach, CA. The World Jiu-Jitsu Championships, or Mundials, first took place in 1996 at the Tijuca Tênis Clube Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and has grown to feature over 1600 competitors from all over the world.

On November 8, 2009 the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) held its annual No- Gi, World Jiu-Jitsu Championships. Among those competing was Strong Style Head Grappling and Jiu-Jitsu instructor, Pablo A. Castro, III, Esq. He entered the tournament previously winning the Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Championships in March of 2009. Castro competed in the 162 lbs, Masters Light/Leve weight class, purple belt division. After a hard fought and outstanding performance, Castro has claimed gold, winning the 2009 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi World Championships.

"I am humbled by the experience to be in the presence of such skilled jiu-jitsu practitioners," commented Castro. "I am honored to be as successful as I was on this particular night and I am grateful to all those who helped me achieve this accomplishment."

In addition, the NAAFS would also to congratulate Mr. Castro's Strong Style Teammate Victor Ventresca, who placed first in the Blue Belt Senior 3 Super Heavyweight and Open Class divisions. NCAA National Champion & NAAFS veteran Phil Davis earned first place honors in the Blue Belt Adult Super Heavyweight division. The Mundials featured competitors from all over the world, including such names as Hermes Franca and Josh Barnett, among others.
