Style's Pablo Castro Captures
IBJJF No-Gi World Championship

- Long Beach, CA) - The NAAFS would like to congratulate Pablo A.
Castro III, Esq. for his outstanding performance at the IBJJF's World
Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championships this past weekend in Long Beach, CA.
The World Jiu-Jitsu Championships, or Mundials, first took place in
1996 at the Tijuca Tênis Clube Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil and has grown to feature over 1600 competitors from all over
the world.
On
November 8, 2009 the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation
(IBJJF) held its annual No- Gi, World Jiu-Jitsu Championships. Among
those competing was Strong Style Head Grappling and Jiu-Jitsu instructor,
Pablo A. Castro, III, Esq. He entered the tournament previously winning
the Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Championships in March of 2009. Castro
competed in the 162 lbs, Masters Light/Leve weight class, purple belt
division. After a hard fought and outstanding performance, Castro
has claimed gold, winning the 2009 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi World
Championships.
"I
am humbled by the experience to be in the presence of such skilled
jiu-jitsu practitioners," commented Castro. "I am honored
to be as successful as I was on this particular night and I am grateful
to all those who helped me achieve this accomplishment."
In
addition, the NAAFS would also to congratulate Mr. Castro's Strong
Style Teammate Victor Ventresca, who placed first in the Blue Belt
Senior 3 Super Heavyweight and Open Class divisions. NCAA National
Champion & NAAFS veteran Phil Davis earned first place honors
in the Blue Belt Adult Super Heavyweight division. The Mundials featured
competitors from all over the world, including such names as Hermes
Franca and Josh Barnett, among others. Full results can be found at
