Chuck Ellison Talks Exclusively with NAAFS.tv
NAAFS.tv recently caught up with 2006 NAAFS National Amateur Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Ellison for an exclusive interview:
1. Thank you for taking time out of training to talk with us. You are making your pro debut against Jeremy Joles at Caged Fury 9. What made you decided that now was the right time to turn pro?
I have been itching to fight for awhile, but was unable to adjust my schedule to train like I felt I needed to for a pro fight. I have been training hard and feel great! I feel like this is going to be a big year for me!
2. Are you planning on staying at 185 as a pro or is a drop to 170 a permanent move?
I am fighting this fight at 170 and plan on making that my home for the rest of my career.
3. What are your thoughts on facing Jeremy Joles?
I think Jeremy is a very tough fighter and has good skills. I know it will be a war, but I am up for the challenge and feel very confident going into this fight.
4. You recently made a successful kickboxing debut, but we haven't seen you compete MMA since Rumble on the Runway. What have you been doing since that time?
I have been doing grappling tournaments and training a lot, working on areas that I needed to improve upon. I’ve also been doing a lot of conditioning work and feel that I’m in best shape that I’ve ever been in!
5. You have been with NAAFS since the early days of the promotion. Being one of the original NAAFS National Amateur Champions, what are your thoughts on the growth of the NAAFS?
I can’t believe how much this organization has grown and improved in the past couple of years. I think it’s an amazing league to fight for and I am proud to be able to fight for the NAAFS.
6. Is there anybody you would like to thank?
I want to thank all my sponsors, Dennis Donovan, and The Diamond Men’s club. I’d also like to thank all of my training partners who are helping me get better every day, and also East Coast Martial Arts and Steve Hindman for all of their help in preparing me for this fight.
Chuck Ellison fights Jeremy Joles as part of NAAFS Caged Fury 9 on Saturday February 20th from Gray's Armory in Cleveland, OH. Tickets are on sale now by calling 330-280-8442 or by clicking here
